CAL FIRE firefighters, who are assisting the San Marcos Fire Department, responded to the incident at 3:05 p.m. in the 500 block of La Moree Road.
Cal Fire said the Serena Fire was reported at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, April 5, at the 32700 block of Rancho California Road. The department said the fire was spreading at a moderate pace and had reached 5 to 7 acres. The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.
Springs Fire initially started 11:01 a.m. April 3 on Gilman Springs Road, East of Moreno Valley in Riverside County, California. Since its discovery 31 hours ago, it has burned 4,176 acres. A fire crew of 147 has been working on site and, by Saturday evening, they managed to contain 95% of the fire. The cause is, however, still being investigated.
Firefighters gained ground overnight on the Springs Fire near Moreno Valley, which is now 45% contained. Some evacuation orders were lifted Saturday.
